beddings
For a great night’s sleep followed by an active day, having the perfect bedding accessories is a must.

Choosing the right kind of beddings can be frustrating. While one feature of an accessory may help you one way, a different feature of the same feature may not. If you ask someone for help, you will usually get conflicting answers making you more lost.

To help you get the best sleep you can, we have used our 30 years of experience in the industry and written this Q&A.

What about thread count?

Thread count refers to the number of horizontal and vertical threads per square inch of the material. By thread count, one can determine the number of threads in one square inch of the material. Higher the thread count softer is the feel.

Just remember, the thread count does not determine the quality of linen.

Which is better – pure cotton or blend sheets?

This varies from person to person. One sheet that can be just right for one person, can be completely uncomfortable for another. You should try a few and see what feels the most comfortable to you. Choose the one that feels like you. If you want to start with what’s popular, then go for the wrinkle-resistant blends of cotton and polyester.

For a different opinion, Homepolish designer Dannielle Corpora recommends going with full cotton. “Nothing tops 100 percent cotton”, writes she writes. “Look for pure cotton sheets, rather than cotton-polyester blends, which aren’t as breathable and stain more easily.”

How do I care for my sheets?

  • ● Follow a “three set rule” for your sheets. One set on the bed, another in the linen closet and the third in the laundry.
  • ● Throw in ¼ cup of lemon juice to the wash cycle for a whitened and brightened sheet. There is absolutely no need to torture it in the sunshine with the morning dew.
  • ● Wash your new sheets before use. Machine-wash according to given instructions and tumble dry with medium heat.
  • ● If you are storing it in a linen chest, line it with acid-free paper or muslin and prevent staining.

Which is the pillow that suits me?

If you sleep on your side, you might need a thicker pillow. Sleepers who plan to sleep on their back need thinner pillows. Memory foam grants you firmer support.

  • ● Before buying a pillow, check its return policy. Be sure that you can return it if you are not satisfied with it.
  • ● Place your fingers on the corner of the pillow and rub them together. This should feel buoyant, and move easily against other fibers.
  • ● Give your new pillow a good shake and smack before buying it. If you see dust coming out of it, then it is just not meant for you.

That’s it!! You are ready for a good night’s sleep! Check again with us to answer more of your bedding woes.
